Michigan time zones

49 CFR 71.5(a) loops the Central–Eastern line around Gogebic, Iron, Dickinson, and Menominee counties so they stay with Wisconsin. Ontonagon County, just north of Gogebic, is on the eastern side of that loop. The Lower Peninsula is Eastern Time.

The boundary file calls the four central counties America/Menominee and the rest of the state America/Detroit. Both observe daylight saving time. In 2026 America/Detroit keeps the same clock as America/New_York, and America/Menominee keeps the same clock as America/Chicago.
