Hawaii-Aleutian time

49 CFR 71.12 defines one Hawaii-Aleutian zone: all of Hawaii, plus the part of the Aleutian Islands west of 169 degrees 30 minutes west longitude. The rest of Alaska is the Alaska zone under 49 CFR 71.11.

The clocks are not the same. Hawaii uses Pacific/Honolulu and does not observe daylight saving time. The western Aleutians use America/Adak, which does observe daylight saving time. In winter both are ten hours behind UTC. In summer Adak is nine hours behind and Honolulu stays at ten.

The Aleutians West Census Area contains islands on both sides of 169°30′ W, and the Census outline crosses the antimeridian, so the county page states the legal rule instead of a sample percentage.
